“A legal battle to stop Christchurch’s landmark cathedral being demolished has been lost.

In a decision released today the Court of Appeal has upheld a High Court decision clearing the way for the Church Property Trustees (CPT) to continue demolishing the quake-damaged Christ Church Cathedral.”

As we all know this is a set back, but it’s definitely not the end of the battle. We must be stronger and more resolved than ever. It’s heartening to hear people who have been back to the Cathedral Square since it reopened to say how marvellous the old building still is, and how their opinion has changed from ‘pull it down’ to ‘what’s the rush’ to now ‘restore the building’.
