The Anglican Church has labelled the suggestion that the restoration of the Cathedral be undertaken by a foundation as bizarre.  Yet when the Cathedral was first built the fundraising and building programme were carried out by a Cathedral Commission so the suggestion is not without precedent.  It would leave the Church free to get on with its core business while the restoration would be overseen by people with the skills and time to focus on fundraising and the task of restoration.
