The stay of execution for the quake-damaged Christ Church Cathedral in Christchurch has been lifted.   Justice Graham Panckhurst released findings which lift the stay on deconstruction of the cathedral.  Read more here.  This move was not unexpected by campaigners to save the Cathedral and neither Restore Christchurch Cathedral nor the Great Christchurch Buildings Trust are giving up the fight.  A TV One interview with Jim Anderton can be seen here .  Mark Belton, spokesman for Restore Christchurch Cathedral  believes “there is no way you could justify demolition on the basis that the cathedral in its present state is a public safety issue, nor is it holding up the rebuild.”  He questions whether the S 38 notice could or should be maintained.
