I am so happy to be reading that some one has at last said to restore the Cathedral. I am a Kiwi living in Australia, but born a staunch Cantabrian I have been so upset hearing they were going to pull it down. It is every thing to Christchurch and it’s people, land mark etc as has been written. England holds on to their wonderful buildings and I am sure if we don’t have the skills there would be willing experienced people who would come out and help restore the Cathedral.
It means everything to the centre of the City and it’s people. A place of peace, worship, meetings, marriages, and much more. Please keep the restoration going.

I entirely agree , I first saw and worshipped in the Cathedral in 1984 as a visitor from England and was impressed by the warmth of welcome and the central place this church had in hearts of the people of Christchurch. I have just visited again today 31 jan 2018and the site is a desolation and currently it shouts out ‘ get on with it in the name of Jesus Christ rebuild and restore’ . Where is the faith and courage of a Nehemiah! The gap is not so much funding gap but a gap of faith and vision! There is plenty of money available now to get started and once this is done the funds will surely come in. Make a start now!Only be thou very courageous , Joshua Ch 1 v 9.’Have faith in God’. Surely Christchurch can do ‘ something beautiful for God’ just as they have done in restoring and rebuilding so many areas of their ‘broken city’
